MICHAEL JACKSON R.I.P KING OF POP!

I can't believe that Michael Jackson is gone... if you were born in the 70 or 80s, then he was absolutely a big part of your life growing up. Every one knows the Thriller dance, to his legendary moon walk, and all his scandals that were brought upon him throughout his life, now he's resting in peace.  And a super sad day for music..."the American pop legend, died of a heart attack in a Los Angeles hospital last night, just weeks before he hoped to resurrect his four-decade long career with of sold-out shows in London." - guardian.uk.com

R.I.P MJ ur forever in our ♥s!
in the words of my Booface..."Life is short...Art is long"

Oh What A Day!

So it turns out that the doctor I seen today didn't know what kind of bite I have but prescribed me these magical blue pills from Walgreens for the infection...thanks Doc.

Walgreens not only had the pills but also offered this little piece of heaven for my swollen foot.

and here I am right now doing my blog kehehe.... [;
aaahhh...it feels good like tony toni tone!

Shout Out to Lora aka Shmora for comming with to the ER...love you BEACH!

So My Toe Still Hurts

I don't care if people think I'm over reacting with my spider bite or whatever bit me, it just doesn't feel right, especially when I walk or put pressure on that damn toe...I'm going to the ER in San Francisco for the first time tonight after work [yup still gotta get paid first], hopefully it's nothing too serious. I'm pretty sure it's not, I'm not getting the life threatening symptoms like throwing up and a fever.  I keep trying to google spider bites, and everything that is popping up is scaring the sh*t out of me! They keep talking about a damn brown recluse spider, but I don't think I got bit by that kind of spider because they are only found in Texas and the rest of the dirty south! Like this sh*t...WTF?! NOTE: This isn't my spider bite!

..disgusting right!?

Girl R&B Groups...Donde Estas?

I was getting kinda tired of HipHop for a while and decided to venture back to the R&B world and only found myself asking this question...What happened to all the good girl R&B groups? Remember SWV, TLC, 702, and even Brownstone? Haha yah those are throw backs, but seriously there's no more good R&B girl groups since Destiny's Child. Even they broke up and I can only stand Beyonce for so long.  Even just solo female R&B nowadays are a little bit too watered down, or outplayed[Cough* Lady GaGa cough*].  There's too many pop bubble gum girly artists out there like Danity Kane or Pussy Cat Dolls, all so commercial and annoying. Lastly, I sorta feel the male singers are killing the R&B game right now.  Hint: Drake, Songz, Dream, Lloyd and many others...

Anywho, here's a few female artist that I think should get a play or two in your ear drums:

   Tennille
Her freshly sweet voice is heard on some of The Cool Kids tracks such as  "Alright Ok," "Jump Rope," and "Ass of Diamonds." These songs are not only pretty but they slapp too! A strong recommendation from me!

     Nicole Wray
Remember her from the Missy and Timberland Era? Her biggest hit was "Make it Hot" back in the day but she's still very much on the radar and has tons of tracks that have not gotten the most air play but are still a must listen tho! My most favorite tracks of hers is "I'm Looking" and "I Can't See." Her songs just say it all trust me...

Electrik Red
A risky girl group I must say...These ladies are an up and coming girl R&B group produced and influenced by The Dream. Despite their feminine looks, their music and lyrics are definitely on the edgy side and go against lovey dovey topics.  Some of their tracks may sound a bit vulgar but I believe it captures the way that contemporary women embrace their sexual power and freedom. My favorite tracks are "So Good" [both original and remix] and "Friend Lover." Take a listen if curious...

BUTTTTT...now that i think about it...this group really shows how much males are influencing the R&B world ehhh watevs!

There's many more but that's what I'm currently into as of now...Come on R&B chicks step up ur game please!

Chanklas

So my roommate and I were strolling along on The Mission until we stumbled upon a $1 store.  And before almost falling to her death in a pile of flip-flops my roommie found a nice pair of brown chanklas.  That's what we are all about...finding sweet stuff for a sweet price. $1?! Why the F*ck not?!
Here's the piles of chanklas [Mexican for Flip-Flops] that Lora aka Shmora almost fell in out of excitement... you hada been there it was freakin' hailarious! Pic by Shmora.

Beeda Weeda...Who's that?

Hello blog world! I really don't know what to talk about right now...except remember Bay Area HipHop?
Haha of course you do...GO STUPID! GO DUMB! And all that good sh*t. Some of you may say it's dead right? But living in The City, the hyphy hyphyness in clubs or bars is still unavoidable. It's like the plague except everyone starts to "gig" [bay talk for dancing] instead of die. However recently, Bay Area HipHop has been a bit repetitive and over done. So I closed my ears to most.  Until I got to listen to this gentleman above, Beeda Weeda a while back.
He's a rapper from Oakland who was recently sued by Lil Wayne for sampling parts of his song "A milli." but that's funny! That's what I like about Weeda's music; the nicely picked samples.  His samples and music to me are a fresher sound for Bay Area music, and pays much needed homage to classic Bay Area pioneers and other HipHop leaders.  His samples include music from artists like Mac Dre, Wayne, Too Short, and even Ciara.  My Fav's are "You Don't Hear My Tummy," which includes Dre samples and "She Likes" with Ciara samples.

In short his sh*t SLAPPSSS! [yes with two p's and three S's].  In the end, I do feel that artists should get their royalties but shouldn't they take it as a compliment as well? That's just my opinion. Beeda Weeda's new album "Fresh Air" is expected to drop soon.

Anywho...
Check out the video "You Don't Hear my Tummy" right churrr...

Single Ladies Vs. Andy Griffith Theme Song

It's funny cuz my boy Chris showed me this a while back...but Drake's lyric "my shirt aint got no stripes but I can make her pu**y whiiiiiistle like the Andy Griffith Theme Song" always makes me think of this mash up. Enjoy!

I ♥ Drake

My Blog wouldn't be complete if there wasn't Drizzy aka Drake's presence gracing it. He's by far one of the most creative and talented artist that has trancended into the HipHop/R&B world,or in my world at least. Other than his eargasim silky singing voice, he has a great way with words and spitting ryhmes. He is also bridging genres of music together that create a unique mix that make it a little hard to label. Drake is an intelligent young man who is defiantely changing the game of HipHop and industry. Despite his mad buzz all around the internet and finally air play, he's able to stay humble.
Word is Bond Drake!

I can't wait for his new video "Best I Ever Had." Rumor has it that the video is being directed by an artist who has never directed before but has tons of artistic vision. I'm going to bet on it that the director may be Kanye West...let's see if I'm right...His video is expected to premier after the BET music awards. I can't fing wait!!

Some Backround Info

For those who don't know me, here's a little summary of my life up to now.
I come from a small cow town called Stockton, less than half the population of Las Vegas but just as much crime. Other than growing up in the semi-ghetto, I had a pretty good life so far. My adolecent life and young adult memories blur together like fading horizon colors. Some are pretty while others are too obsure to really notice. Friends came and went throughout my life but I manage to salvage amd stay in touch with the most deserving of people. In 2004 I went to a community college and 3 years later I'm living and studying in a city that has raped me with inspiration and parking tickets, San Francisco...

Mexican Americans

This is one of my favorite parts in the movie, other than the cholos with the low-riders and Selena with an "S."
YES! YES! Selena's dad I agree...

Don't Know What I Got Myself Into...

Hello,
Yes that's me, Mar Lay Nuh in the coolest aisle in Food 4 Less...for those who don't know what is Food 4 Less is it's the greatest grocery store ever in the Central Valley can't find nothing like it...yellow aisles and shiny cement floors. Anyways, I have no idea about the blog world so this is my attempt in sticking my big toe in the water. Please be patient for this is my attempt of becoming a more disciplined writer...enjoy!
