Fallin' in Love Again With Hip Hop

Thanks to Drake!

Wonder where Drake's "Best I Ever Had" sample's?? Well I heard the first few seconds of "Best I Ever" from a song I heard at 330 Ritch in SF a while back called "Fallin' in Love" by Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds. It's an oldie but definitely a goodie.
Check it!

Celebrity Sighting: DJ Jazzy Jeff

Here he is on the 1s and 2s at Butterfly on the Embarcadero in SF Saturday on Shmora's bday! He had super dope sets of Tribe, top 40, and even did a snippet of the theme song to Fresh Prince. He wouldn't say hi to us tho, even my bf said, "Even if we blew a spit wad at him, he wouldn't have budge..." oh well!

Heartbreaker Remix Mariah Carey Feat. Da Brat and Missy Elliott

Haha...yah yah i'm a fan of Miss Carey or should I say Mrs. Cannon!? N.e. whoos she has a new video out for her new single "Obsessed" and no i'm not going to post that one...Pretty much her music videos are all the same.  I'm not trying to hate on my girl MC, but does she need a blow fan and slow motion for every music video she does?? Maybe she's just a little obsessed with herself...haha but she kind of has an excuse to I guess...how old is she now?? Hmmm good question right?! Ne ways I'm too lazy to google that answer but here's one of my favs back in my middle school days sheesh! Feeling 2:34 when Da Brat is rapping to Snoop Dogg...shits kinda funny k late!

P.S. I used to hate DJ CLUE CLUE CLUE...?! Remember when he used to ruin every fing song!?But I guess he started a trend cuz that's all you hear on free downloads and mixtapes...

Prince Tribute: Before We Lose Another

Hello Blog world! I'm on a stumbling streak...I stumbled upon this wonderful number "Purple Flip" by The Foreign Exchange featuring other artists like ?uestlove and Phonte!! They flipped Prince's song "Take Me With You" into a sweet sweet beat, a download must!

Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson- Drums, Samples
Nicolay- Fender Rhodes, acoustic piano
Zo!- Korg synth, additional rhodes
Phonte and Carlitta Durand- Vocals

"We recorded this over a month ago specifically for a ?uestlove tribute party dedicated to The Purple One himself. Other than passing it off to a few DJ friends who vowed to keep it on some secret squirrel, "bet you aint up on THIS!" status, no one has ever heard it. In the wake of the incredible loss we suffered on June 25 however, this joint took on somewhat of a deeper meaning.

We decided to share it with our fans not only as a token of appreciation, but also as a way of paying respect to one of our last living musical geniuses.

Let's not wait until tragedy strikes before we show love and gratitude to our heroes, people. Give them their flowers while they live.

One Love,
'Tay and Nic"

Computer Love

Hmm... man it's crazy how technology is effecting relationships, it's totally entering a whole new level.  I just heard this Lil Kim and T-pain song on the radio, and according to Lil Kim "down loading" is the new booty call.  I guess some jail time really affected her love life, of course she's gonna have Computer Love.

"Lil kim is the only one on his mind,
he wanna come thru and put me on his hard drive" -Lil Kim

LOL! Get it "hard drive!?" Lil Kim you crack me up...

BUT...
Again, Zapp and Roger were ahead of their time.
They new what was up with Computer Love waaay before Myspace, Facebook, Twitter...etc

"Best I Ever Had" New Drake Video

Geez no wonder my boyfriend wanted to watch this video more than talk to me on the phone...
two words: SLOW MOTION...

EDITED: Drake signs with Universal Records!?

Wow!!! Good Job Drake!

ADD: That is if Sway is telling the truth...but According to an interview by Complex with Drake, there's a different story...

Complex: What does Young Money bring to the table?

Drake: Since the beginning of this, Lil’ Wayne has always put himself out there on behalf of me, from spitting my verse at the VMAs, to jumping on the songs that I needed him on and always promoting me. Right now it’s more about building up Young Money, as opposed to what Young Money brings to the table at this point. Obviously, what Young Money brings to the table is Lil’ Wayne. He’s a powerhouse and I felt it was only fair to stay loyal. I thought it was only fair for him to get that look and I wanted the YM logo on the album and to make sure that he knows that I don’t take what he did for me for granted.

Complex: You were entertaining other offers from Atlantic and Interscope, right?

Drake: I can definitely say that I wanted to be over at Interscope for a while, but it wouldn’t allow me to work with Wayne the way that I wanted to work with Wayne. I had to make a sacrifice. But with that being said, if we sell some records and people actually see how the record deal breaks down… Somebody told me they saw my deal the other day and they said it was one of the worst record deals in history [for] the label. That’s a good thing for me. I own everything, I have 100% creative control, I own all my masters, everything. I’m blessed to be in that situation. If we sell some records, I think we’ll just add to the historic pace that this has been going at.

Complex: There was a feeling that if you didn’t sign to a major label, that would signal the demise of the record industry.

Drake: I think that it all depends on the success on the project. I can have this conversation with you and tell you the impact I think it may have, especially when the details of the deal get out. But it’s all dependent on what I do. I first have to make the right album that will sell some records. With that being said, I definitely think it could cause a bit of a shift if we find a way to sell a million records.

Complex: What made you want to strive to stay independent?

Drake: Since I started, I’ve always been giving my music away for free…I’ve always kind of done it for the people, you know? So I just want them to still have some attachment to this project. I don’t want to lose my fans completely because they support me in a way that’s more than just listening to my music. They support me like we’re friends. They support me like they have emotions invested in it. So I want there to be a challenge to it, so when it drops, they’re looking at the numbers, they’re maybe even clicking it twice on iTunes just to prove a point. I want it to be fun, man. This shit is just not exciting if it’s so straight forward like, “I’m putting a record out, go to the store and buy it” and there’s so many people behind it, it has nothing to do with me. You know? It’s like, fuck it, let’s just have fun, let’s see if we can shake up the world, let’s see if we can fuck with the system. I just figure it’d make it more interesting on the album day. -www.complex.com

hmmm...whatever Drizzy does I'm sure he'll be smart and successful!
